History
Established in 1981, Gloster started out as a relatively small company producing teak benches and chairs in Bristol. In April 1992 the company was purchased by new owners and manufacturing was moved to our own factory in Indonesia. At the same time the range began to expand to include a wider selection of outdoor furniture, including folding chairs, deck tables and chairs. Today, Gloster is one of the best known brands of quality outdoor furniture, with over 300 products and a worldwide distribution network.
For over twenty years, Gloster has had its own factory in Surabaya, on the island of Java in Indonesia. The furniture is manufactured in accordance with tradition while adopting new, more modern techniques to continue to offer the best quality. The Gloster factory is located close to the teak plantations; it is run by a European team and employs over 1,000 people.
Mastering Teak
The attention that Gloster pays to the production of its teak furniture is exemplary. For example, the joints and connections have been specifically chosen to offer the strongest and most durable solutions. Thanks to the steaming of the wood and modern machinery, the furniture is manufactured with the smallest tolerances, so the connections fit perfectly without visible gaps. In addition, Gloster uses different types of very powerful expanding glues that guarantee very long-term stability.
Diversity
The Gloster brand is renowned for its teak furniture, but recent collections have seen the arrival of the mixture of new materials such as cane, stainless steel, aluminum and even hand-woven fiber.
